Step by step

Simple ligature

Simple ligature

The pedicle is secured using a clamp.
The thread is brought around the pedicle, passing underneath the proximal end of the clamp.
Both ends of the thread are brought together at the distal end and tied with a surgical knot.
The clamp is carefully and slowly released and then removed, whilst the knot is being secured.
After a few more throws of the knot, the threads are cut off.
