Incise

The lower abdominal muscle splitting incision is used for the open appendectomy. An approximately 5 cm long skin incision is made obliquely in the Langer’s skin lines at McBurney’s point, ⅔ of the way from the umbilicus to the anterior superior iliac spine. For cosmetic reasons, a more lower and laterally incision can be made.
