Step by step
Mark the insertion site on the skin, usually at the level of the nipple(5th intercostal space) just anterior to the midaxillary line on the affected side.
This location is part of the so-called ‘safe triangle’ for insertion, which is bound by the latissimus dorsi, the pectoralis major muscle, the axilla and by a horizontal line joining the nipples.
