Introduction

Preface

At the end of a surgical procedure, there are a number of tasks to be performed by the surgical team. The tasks discussed in this course do not run the gamut of what may need to be done and only a selection of commonly performed tasks are discussed. These are: finalizing the procedure; handling the specimen; administrative tasks; transfer of the patient and preparation of the operating room for the next procedure. It is important that these tasks be performed systemically with clear delineation of responsibility to ensure that they are performed appropriately and timeously.
