Prepare

Prepare the equipment and check that it is complete. Position the trolley with the equipment next to the patient. Position a disposable pad under the patient’s buttocks and thighs. Disinfect the hands and put on non-sterile gloves. Optionally, place a protective dressing / towel under the penis and across the patient’s thighs. Connect the bladder bag to the catheter.

Practitioner positioning

The right side of the patient is the best place to stand for right-handed practitioners, and vica-versa.
