This VY-Plasty course will teach you:
- The VY-Plasty, an advancement flap. The main objective being to close a defect in order to maintain the functionality and esthetics of the area. The plasty could also be used for scar lengthening and to interrupt a scar for better esthetics. Defect closure is achieved by moving the skin from an area with skin excess to the defect.

Step by step
Identify the resting skin tension lines, the lines of maximal extensibility and the slack. Also identify the desired direction of the VY-plasty advancement. This determines where to place the markings.
Mark the desired V-shape on the skin. The width of the V should be as wide as the greatest width of the defect.
